Working in the garden: Couldn’t find green shiso plants at the farmers’ market, but I was happy to find one largish plant among the volunteer tomato plants. If you look closely at the picture, you can see two more very tiny shiso plants. It was hard to pull out so many volunteer tomatoes, but it must be done or none will bear fruit. Sula followed Mr. Tess out to the garden. She loves, loves, loves him. The woodpecker spent the whole time we were out there flitting from branch to branch, angrily tweruping at us. twerup! twerup! twerup! Must be she has a nest in one of the dead trees back there.
